Councillor speaks out on NHS crisis.
"The NHS is facing a "humanitarian crisis" as hospitals and ambulance services struggle to keep up with rising demand", the British Red Cross has said, following the deaths of two patients after long waits on trolleys in hospital corridors"
"Fifty of England's 152 NHS acute hospital trusts were forced to declare an alert last month, and sometimes temporarily scale back the level of care they offered to patients, because they could not cope with the number of people seeking medical attention, according to analysis by the Nuffield Trust health thinktank. Every hospital in Essex has had to go on 'black alert' - the NHS's highest level - in recent weeks"
These were some of the comments in the news during the first week of January.
Local Liberal Democrat Councillor, Inga Lockington (pictured) says "I am married to a Hospital Doctor who still does emergency Medical Takes, as he has done for over 37 years.
Hospitals are the only places in our Health and Social Care system that cannot say "NO" to someone in crisis. Frail, usually older, people, deserve a better integrated Care system, supported and funded to say "YES" to help people get back on their feet or care for those who cannot."
We cannot carry on with a system where Mental, Physical and Social Services try to save money at each others expense.
All Care Homes in Suffolk are now private or voluntary-sector businesses. The Public Sector no longer runs any, as a result of Tory County Council policy. If Care Home businesses are not funded to care for more challenging problems they can just say "no" and as a result such people can be trapped in Hospital.
