Lucy's professional background is in town planning - working as a planning officer for three London local authorities before moving to Ipswich in 1988 to raise her family, and then as a government Planning Inspector, deciding planning appeals. This has given her a good understanding of many aspects of local government.
Since retirement she has been involved with several community initiatives in Ipswich including taking a leading role in major restoration project at St Margaret's Church, volunteering at the Ipswich Winter Night Shelter, and as a Director of The Oak Tree, a community farm at Rushmere.
From her first exposure to politics as a teenager delivering Liberal Party (as was) leaflets with her father, Lucy has strongly believed that for individuals and communities to thrive the Liberal Democrat priorities of a fair society with a good environment and high quality public services responsive to local needs are fundamental.
Lucy says "If elected I would represent my constituents in challenging the majority party and administration where they fail to meet those objectives."
