Lib Dems second to Tories in Anglia for the 2017 local elections

May 5, 2017 8:15 PM

Despite losing a few seats in the 2017 local elections, the great news is that the Liberal Democrats still achieved more seats than Labour, the Green party, and UKIP in East Anglia making us the second largest party in the region, behind only the Tories. Our vote share also increased locally and nationally.

So while there is some disappointment for our excellent local candidates who were not elected, we are officially the opposition to the Tories in this region if you consider these results.

In Ipswich, we are also happy that Inga Lockington kept her seat for the St Margaret's and Westgate division. She was over 300 votes ahead of the Tories who took the second seat for the division.
