Another bumper year at the rejuvenated Ipswich Regent
The Regent made a profit of £81,000 on this years panto Cinderella. This follows record sales of £480,000 - £50,000 up on last years Snow White.
Obviously the appearance in the pantomine of former Eastender actress Laetitia Dean helped with sales. (Laetitia Dean was featured in BBC One's 'Strictly Come Dancing' which coincided with the run up to and start of the panto season at The Regent.
The continued profits from panto's will be used to re-invest in the theatre and further reduce the subsidy Ipswich taxpayers pay towards the theatre.
Under Labours final years subsidy reached £1m per annum. It is now down to £400,000 and falling as commercial success breeds proves that the offering of The Regent has improved dramatically.
Following a public consultation next years panto will be Aladdin. It promises to be another memorable performance for theatregoers and the tax payer alike.
