More than two full years into the change of control at Ipswich Borough Council to a Lib Dem coalition the number of council houses continues to rise and in 2006 (last complete year) by a record amount. In 2006 the net increase (after allowing for 60 homes being bought under right to buy) the number of homes increased by 113. This makes the average increase now 100 per year.
Clear difference in performace on homes
From 1996 to 2003 under Labour Ipswich LOST 728 homes or 91 per year (see graph).
Ipswich Lib Dems know there is a long way to go to tackling the council house waiting list in Ipswich but providing more homes is a must.
