Ipswich gets more CCTV cameras

CCTV cameraSuffolk county councillors Andrew Cann and Inga Lockington have allocated £11,000 of their locality budget towards the installation of a mobile camera and mast in Westgate ward whilst Ipswich Borough Council is providing 2 more cameras specifically for the red light area of Ipswich.

An additional mobile camera is also to be installed in the Barrack Corner area which will be able to look on to Burlington Road and Portman Road.

Andrew Cann said: "The cameras will be mobile so they can be used flexibly by the authorities. The intention is however to ensure that there is a continued presence in the London Road area. Following recent events people living and working in the area need reassurance and in a small way these extra resources will help."
