The £4.4m Christchurch Park restoration is making good progress.
Cllr. Andrew Cann looking forward to the improvments at Christchurch Park
The Wilderness Pond has been drained and thousands of tonnes of silt will be removed to improve the pond. The silt will be re-used as a fertiliser for a new children's wood near the children's play area. The Wilderness Pond and Round Ponds are being de-silted in order to prevent the ponds becoming stagnant.
Ipswich Lib Dem Councillors, Richard Atkins, Inga Lockington and Andrew Cann listen to Cllr. John Cooper describe the new Education Centre
Meanwhile the old toilets at the Bolton Lane entrance have been demolished (see picture) and will be replaced with a 'Green' Education Centre complete. New toilets suitable for use with a wheelchair are being built near the lower arboretum and will include a kiosk. Electricity for the buildings will be provided by a wind turbine. Both new buildings will be completed by August.
