Ipswich Regent has gone from strength to strength under the new administration
This years production of 'Snow White' at The Regent looks set to continue the rich run of form at the popular theatre in recent times. This is testament to the tough and politically opposed decisions taken to turn this venue around.
Under the previous Labour administration The Regent made losses of £800,000 per year and had an uncertain future. Under the new administration determined efforts have been made to cut the losses - down from £800,000 per year to £300,000 by cutting costs, selling more tickets and giving the theatre the investment it needed. The success is a credit to the portfolio holder and more importantly the staff involved - the same staff that had been held back before. The team at The Regent are a credit to the theatre and are putting every effort into every production to make The Regent a success.
Their efforts mean we all win; 150,000 satisfied customers per year and the tax-payer who is saving £500,000 per annum. This is the equivalent of 5% on council tax.
