£17m project to improve transport in Ipswich Town Centre

The real alternative to suggestion - investment in sustainable transport
Ipswich 'Fit for the 21st Century' is a new project aimed at tackling many of the congestion issues in the Town Centre whilst improving access for the public.
The project will see improvements all around and within the Town Centre including:
- Better pedestrian access to College St, Key St and Fore St improving links to th Waterfront and University area.
- A shuttle bus from the University to the Railway Station at to the Town Centre from the Railway Station.
- An improved pedestrian route into the heart of the Town Centre along Princes St.
- Improved Bus priority schemes on Woodbridge Road, Handford Road and Norwich Road.
- Pedestrianisation of Upper Brook St and Northgate St Area.
- Dedicated pedestrian link to the waterfront from the Town Centre
- Refurbishment of the Cattle Market Bus Station.
- Remodelling of Tower Ramparts Bus Station.
- Town Centre Bus Loop extended to Upper Orwell St as Mint Quarter redeveloped
This project will provide the biggest improvement to access in the area through the promotion of sustainable form pf Transport.
