Ipswich is finally increasing Social Housing again under the Lib Dems
The following letter was published in the Evening Star on Wednesday October 11th.
"Dear Sir
Ipswich Labour will not accept the 'Inconvenient Truth' about their lack of performance on Social Housing in recent years judging by their leaders letter (Evening Star Monday 2nd October).
In order that readers can judge Labours performance in power why don't we see how many social houses were LOST in each of Labours' last years of power in Ipswich?
1996 - 99 houses lost
1997 - 147 houses lost
1998 - 99 houses lost
1999 - 105 houses lost
2000 - 6 houses lost
2001 - 142 houses lost
2002 - 43 houses lost
2003 - 87 houses lost
Thats 728 social houses LOST in their last 8 years.
In September 2004 Labour lost control to the Lib / Con Coalition
In that year only one house was lost.
In 2005 Ipswich will GAIN 86 social houses.
2006, 2007 and 2008 will also see larger gains in Social Housing under the Lib / Con coalition.
The 'Inconvenient Truth' for Ipswich Labour is that their performance on Social Housing has been dire in recent years. They can bluff, bluster and spin all they like but the facts speak for themselves.
