Cllr. Richard Atkins campaigning for Govt. funding to match housing targets
A Government Minister, Margaret Hodge, visited Ipswich recently to meet up with key regional representatives including the Borough's Economic Development portfolio holder, Lib Dem Cllr. Richard Atkins.
Richard said he hoped "to keep the Government aware of the different growth initiatives going on, and to highlight the infrastructure problems. This region has had less in infrastructure spending than any region over the last 50 years. Ipswich must cope with an additional 15,400 new homes by 2021 by Govt. decree but must have investment in sustainable transport to match."
Ipswich is the fastest growing town in the region and this must be recognised.
