Cllr. Richard Atkins has done much to promote the Town Centre, here campaigning to expand the market
Ipswich Town centre businesses are currently voting on whether they want to become part of a 'Business Improvement District'. If they do they will contribute £3.2m through increased business rates to the support and marketing of Ipswich Town centre over a 5 year period.
This will have real benefits for all Ipswich people due to real improvements in the Town Centre being funded by the businesses rather than the Council-Tax Payer.
Councillor Richard Atkins, Lib Dem portfolio holder for Economic Development, said 'We are supporting the campaign as it is good for business and good for residents.
The Council has put its money where its mouth is and we now call on all businesses to vote 'yes' in order to cement the town's position as a strong regional retail and business centre'.
