'No Tuition fees' says local Lib Dem CANN

November 6, 2005 7:26 PM

Andrew Cann campaigning to scrap Tuition and Top-up feesCllr. Andrew CANN and other local Liberal Democrats attended the freshers fair at Suffolk College in September. The Liberal Democrats were the only Political Party to attend.

Nevertheless our stand was the busiest there with over 430 students signing our petition to scrap student Top up and Tuition fees and many others asking about the Lib Dems.

Young people are more likely to be put off higher education because of tuition fees. The average student debt is now £12,000, up 10% on the previous year's. Barclays Bank estimate that average student debt on graduation will triple by 2010, to over £30,000.

Andrew says 'Education should be a right, not a privilege, and all political parties should take note that our young people are our future. Tuition fees are a debt timebomb which further hinder young peoples chances of getting a home. The Labour Party promised not to bring in Tuition Fees before the 2001 election.'

'You can't trust Labour'.
