Cllr. Inga Lockington
Many of you will remember Labour introducing the Bus Lanes 10 years ago. A lot of people at the time and ever after complained that they were too long and restrictive. The Liberal Democrats are strong supporters of Public Transport but believe whilst promoting this we must also serve motorists and listen to the public.
After being in power for 1 year the Liberal Democrats have made plans and are acting. In September the Council approved an experiment to withdraw two sections of bus lane on Norwich Road and alter restrictions to Peak times only on London Road and St Helens St. See over for details. Your local Councillor, Inga LOCKINGTON, as portfolio holder for Transport has steered this through despite Labour voting no.
Andrew CANN says 'Following on from free Bus Travel for over 60's Inga has again shown that Liberal Democrats make a difference. It's good to see the views of local people taken into account after years of them being ignored. Lets hope the experiment goes well and further changes can be looked at. Well done, again, Inga'.
